The London Borough of Richmond carried out a Cycle Ambassador scheme as part of there SmarterTravelRichmond program. It was very effective but sadly it wasn't followed up and SmarterTravelRichmond has been disbanded with no follow up. For it to be effective, it has to be a continual process (bit like NCTGroups) rather than a one off project.

Sadly they appear to have removed any reference to the Cycle Ambassador Scheme but a quick google found this:

Yeah, the screws are supposed to be black, but I couldn't find any long enough in black. So, shiny they are.

The photo was straight from my phone. The ceiling isn't that colour, but I was intrigued by how the colours changed as I moved the camera around and it compensated for the high dynamic range. The weird colour was part of the appeal for me.

I'll add a couple more showing how the effect varied from different angles.

Thanks for the comment!

Those screws do have hint of having been part of a struggle….

Photographically, a tweak of the colour balance wouldn't go amiss, unless your ceiling really is as brown as that.

I think it is a good idea that is needed, and if something like this were to start then it would be taken up, judging by the number of people who ask these sorts of questions at the shop I work in. I think more would ask if they didn't feel intimidated as well.

Where is it online though? I tend to end up on those awful 'answers' websites which rarely give you an answer and are full of adverts and out of date content. Buying books mean, well, you have to buy it rather than have a list, and it all just seems hard to find. It'd be good just to have one place to get everything from, as a basic start. I do though think that the cycling counselors is an interesting idea as well, particularly if the Government and local councils are serious about getting people cycling. They really should promote these kinds of ideas. Thanks for sharing.

haha very true Ross.

Also the 2nd image looks distinctively different as a thumb nail... it contains blue/green curves meeting at the middle of the image. Normal photo its not visible. Perhaps I should photograph the photograph? :D

When we were bringing the Bakfiets from Amsterdam we got caught in a Triathlon in Cologne and ended up riding between the athletes along the river. It was a bit unnerving on a Bakfiets...

Thanks Andy, all dad tips will be gratefully received.

You'll be glad to hear that I'm already talking to baby! Though, I confess, I do it in a strange "talking to my wife's stomach" voice. You know like some people have a telephone voice? Kinda like that, only more dorky. :)
